Nim-Cor's
special Iso-Grip system of independent flanges provides
maximum grip at all contact points along the core, achieving
optimum torque.
This unique design accommodates variations in the inside
diameter of the web core, allowing the flanges to securely
grip rolls of any continuously wound material to provide
ease and speed in unwinding and rewinding.
Advantages
of Iso-Grip System
- Independent
flanges operate together, securing the load with firm,
equalized pressure at every point.
-
The system is customizable to fit your application by
choosing lugs, large, small or midget buttons.
- Lugs,
large and small buttons can be hardened for additional
durability and serrated for increased torque.
Choice
of material to suit application
Every
application is different there is no such thing as
the "one size fits all" design. Nim-Cor offers airshafts
in a variety of materials to meet the needs of its customers.
- Steel
is the most popular choice, providing a cost effective
shaft capable of meeting most applications.
- Aluminum
is widely used, particularly where users are seeking to
reduce the physical effort required in the handling of
reels, and can accept lower load bearing limitations.
- Shafts
made of Xymid Advanced Composites are capable of
tackling any application and offer the best of both requirements,
giving a shaft with high strength increased speed and
reduced shaft deflection. Nim-Cor offers four different
fiber modulus options, each one having specific application
criteria.
- Stainless
steel is used where the application involves high levels
of hygiene, or in damp operating environments.

Whichever
material is selected, all shafts are available in large,
small and midget buttons or lug styles.
High-quality
construction
Nim-Cor
airshafts are built to exacting standards for years of dependable
service. Our Engineering Department verifies each design
to ensure that the shaft will carry the loads specified
and meet the expected operating conditions of speed and
tension. This study covers both the reeling and work-handling
operations.
All
Nim-Cor journals are taper-fitted to provide for accurate
alignment and concentricity and to permit easy removal.
All shafts are tested prior to shipping to ensure that they
meet the customer requirements and Nim-Cor's own quality
standards.
Nim-Cor Iso-Grip Airshafts
Large
Button Airshafts
This
original and most popular version of the Iso-Grip
System can be adapted to your unwind, center wind or surface
wind operations. Choose from straight, staggered or offset
button rows to match your application needs. Ideal for core
I.D.'s over 2-1/2" and web widths greater than 6". Large
buttons are 5/8" diameter pitched on 1-3/4" centers.
Small
Button Airshafts
Unwind
or rewind multiple narrow web widths as narrow as 1/4".
Buttons can be ordered in straight, staggered or offset
rows for maximum performance in your particular application.
For core I.D.'s of 1-1/8" and up. Small buttons are
3/8" diameter pitched on 3/4" centers.
Midget
Button Airshafts
Get
optimum unwind, center or surface rewind performance with
our Iso-Grip System midget button shafts. Select from
straight, staggered or offset button sequence. For core
I.D.'s of 1" or less. Midget buttons are 1/4" diameter pitched
on 1/2" centers.
Lug-Type
Airshafts
Utilize
this style airshaft for web widths greater than 6" when
working with steel, PVC and conventional cores. Lugs can
be hardened for added durability. Or, choose our springless
urethane lug for core I.D.'s of 2" or less. For core I.D.'s
2-1/2" and larger we use 2-5/16" long lugs on 5-1/8" centers.
For core I.D.'s 2" and smaller we use urethane lugs 1-1/2"
long, 2" on center.

External
Bladder Airshafts
Nim-Cor's
new lightweight external bladder shaft offers precision
engineering and ease of handling for standard duty unwind
and rewind applications. For ease of maintenance, bladders
can be replaced in 15 minutes, and parts can be replaced
without removing journals. Shafts are available in a variety
of core sizes, and custome shafts are available.
